About the

Bognor Regis BID

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a precisely defined geographical area of a town, city or any other commercial district where ratepayers have voted to invest collectively in local improvements over and above those already delivered by the local authority and other bodies. A BID must provide additional services.

Following the majority vote in support of a focused Business Improvement District in Bognor Regis, Bognor Regis BID Ltd (the BID) was established on 1st April 2018.  The BID is a private company, funded by local businesses.  We work with - but are not part of - any of the town, district or County councils.  We have an Annual General Meeting which members of the company can come along to.

You’ll find all the information about how businesses were consulted about the introduction of a BID, what information was given, how the vote was arranged and managed in our Business Plan, which you can download here.

The area covered by the BID stretches from West Street to Butlins, and from the Esplanade to the upper section of London Road.  The area includes 492 businesses, 292 of which pay towards the BID Levy, generating around £141,000 per year to invest in making Bognor Regis a place where businesses can thrive.

Bognor Regis is a town that has so much potential, and it’s time for that potential to be realised, reversing decades of decline and building on recent improvements.  The town is on the up, and the BID can keep this momentum going, working together with businesses and in partnership with other stakeholders to deliver that plan.

The town has all the basic ingredients of a great retail and leisure environment – good attractions, a welcoming clean and safe place – but this can be improved so much to encourage more visitors to come and explore the town.  Not many towns can boast a Seaside Award-winning beach literally a stone’s throw from the centre!

What is the Bognor Regis BID?

As part of the consultation process, businesses identified four main areas where they’d like to see improvements, and these form the basis of the BID’s business plan for its initial five-year term.

The improvements were clustered into four main objectives, aimed at making Bognor Regis: -

1. A well-known town centre: by improving the perception and image of Bognor Regis
2. A welcoming town centre: by helping reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
3. An active town centre at night: by helping to stimulate the evening and night-time economy
4. Better parking: by making it easier for visitors and staff to park in town

The BID is delivering a plan to help the town become a more thriving, vibrant and exciting place – making Bognor Regis better for business!  Follow the links to find out what we’re doing towards each of the individual objectives!
