BID Update: Monday 11 May 2020

Government Announcement on Sunday

The Prime Minister’s announcement last night set out a broad overview of the steps that could happen to gradually phase out of lockdown.  He suggested some potential dates, but it was stressed that any changes can only be made if it is safe to do so.

He made reference to government guidelines for businesses, and we’ll make sure we get information about how to access that out to you as soon as it’s made public.

BID Update

For the past few weeks, the BID Team has been really busy supporting businesses through the grants process, appealing some of the decisions made and engaging in webinars with national BID bodies, specialist Place Management organisations and co-ordinating with everyone involved in Bognor Regis town centre to plan for the next stage – recovery from the crisis.

The Board of Directors met (virtually) on Thursday and agreed three fundamental strategies to support you now, and as we move closer towards this next phase:

  1. Working collaboratively with all other departments, agencies and organisations with responsibility for Bognor Regis Town centre to make sure it’s a safe and welcoming place for people to visit when restrictions start to be lifted.

  2. Creating an online portal for our businesses to access information and resources to help make the best choices about protecting staff and customers within your business

  3. Creating a powerful marketing campaign to encourage people back into the BID Area

This work has already begun, so once we have clear guidance from government, we’ll be able to move quickly.  We’ll keep you informed as the situation progresses.

Shop Local Bognor Regis

We’ve seen lots of BID businesses respond to the Prime Minister’s announcement last night through social media – some announcing new ways of operating and others reminding their customers of what you’re doing.  Shop Local Bognor Regis is the BID’s “online high street” for Bognor Regis, and is the perfect place to showcase your business and give details of how you’re operating right now.  As you control the listing, you can update it really quickly and easily as your operations change.

You’ll find full details about the website, including instructions on how to list on our website: https://www.brbid.org/shoplocalbognorregis

It’s completely free for BID businesses to list, and takes less than 10 minutes to set up, so get on board now!

Even though Clair and I are working from home, you can still contact us by email:  info@brbid.org, by phone:  07917 692690 or through Zoom meeting software.  The software is free to download and works across a wide range of platforms – phones, tablets, PC’s, Macs.  If you’d like a virtual face to face, please invite:  heather@brbid.org

Kindest regards, Heather
