Successful ballot secures second term for Bognor Regis BID

Results of the postal ballot have now been confirmed and we are delighted to report that Bognor Regis BID’s renewal ballot has been successful.

Of the total number of ballots cast, 72% of Bognor Regis’s levy paying businesses voted yes for a new five-year term of the BID. The yes vote represented 75% of the total Rateable Value of all ballots cast.

The BID Board and Team thanked levy payers for their majority support for the continuation of the BID for a further five years. Representing the BID Board of Directors, Matthew Reynolds said: “Despite the challenges that we are all experiencing, this positive outcome shows that businesses support ongoing investment in town centre improvements through the BID’s delivery of additional projects and services that the various councils have no statutory responsibility to provide. It also reflects businesses’ confidence in the innovative and strategic projects the BID has delivered since 2018, and their support for the Business Plan which sets out the BID’s commitments for the next five years.

BID Co-Ordinator Heather Allen added: Over the past twelve months we consulted with businesses to create and present a clear business plan outlining how the organisation would continue to deliver activities to support levy payers until 2028. Following the successful outcome at ballot, the BID now has a further five-year term to build on the progress made so far, delivering projects that are driven by businesses’ priorities by changing perceptions of Bognor Regis through promotion and events, making the town more welcoming, working with partners to progress strategic initiatives and doing even more to represent, empower, promote and connect the business community. Speaking on behalf of the BID Team, we really appreciate the confidence that the businesses we work to support have shown through the ballot outcome, and will continue to do everything we can with the resources available to deliver the business plan for the benefit of the BID Area and all levy paying businesses.”

Now that the ballot announcement has been made, the BID will continue all activity under its existing mandate, with Term 2 delivery starting on 1st April 2023. Key documents, including the Term 2 Business Plan and the full Business Proposal, plus a comprehensive list of BID delivery from 2018 to date is available to download from the BID’s website at:  www.brbid.org/term2
